DADU, Dec 19: On the directives of the Election Commission, Dadu’s District Police Officer Tipu Sultan and Executive District Officer (education) Jalil Ahmed Akhund have been transferred.

They left the charge of their offices on Wednesday.

According to reports, the Election Commission issued the directive to the Sindh home department on the complaints of the Pakistan People’s Party candidates — Rafiq Ahmed Jamali (NA-232 Dadu), Pir Mujeebul Haq (PS-74 Dadu) and Murad Ali Shah (PS-73 Sehwan) – that the two officials were supporting their opponent candidates, including former federal minister Liaquat Ali Jatoi.

Tipu Sultan has handed over the charge of his office to SP (investigation) Malik Zafar Iqbal and Jalil Akhund to district education officer (elementary) Ghulam Asghar Leghari. Jalil Akhund has been sent on leave.

However, Murad Ali Shah has opposed the appointment of Zafar Iqbal as the DPO on the ground that he was a junior officer, and sought his replacement by a senior officer.In a communication to the Election Commission, the PPP candidate contended that that the new DPO Zafar Iqbal is in grade 17 and being a junior officer he will not be able to effectively handle a stormy situation like election.
