Breakdowns of power in Lahore

Published April 1, 2002

LAHORE, March 31: Repeated power disruptions and almost no water supply was a ‘holiday gift’ for people in most of city localities on Sunday.

The power disruptions which are normally attributed to flying kites with metal wires and nylon string started early in the morning in many localities and continued till late in the afternoon with regular intervals.

This was coupled with suspension of water supply which some Wasa officials linked to the interruption in power supply.

The situation created a great deal of inconvenience for people many of them rendered unable even to cook meals.

The most affected areas included the Walled City, Samanabad, Mozang, Ravi Road, Mohni Road, Islamia Park, Multan Road, Misri Shah, Shadbagh and Ichhra.
