Vinod, Seher top Sindh tennis rankings

KARACHI, Dec 11: Vinod Das has jumped to the top slot in the men’s Sindh Tennis Association (STA) annual rankings released on Tuesday.

Vinod has secured 100 points from five provincial ranking tournaments held under the aegis of STA during the year.

Last year’s champion Yasir Khan has slipped down to ninth place following lack of participation.

Seher Khawaja, a former national hard court champion, retained her top provincial ranking amongst the women with a tally of 130 points.

Junior international Syed Zuhair Raza has emerged on top of the juniors U-17 category collecting 130 points. He replaced the promising Nasir Mushtaq.

In boys U-15, Abdul Rehman and Omer Shahid are tied with 75 points apiece while Nameer Shamsi (110), Talha Zubair (115) and Ali Mooraj (55) heads the boys’ U-13, U-11 and U-9 categories.

Uzma Zakaria leads the girls U-17 ranking with 30 points.

Rankings:

Men’s: 1-Vinod Das (100); 2-Abbas Raza (65); 3-Zuhair Raza (60).

Ladies: 1-Seher Khawaja (130); 2-Eman Malik (70); 3-Aliya Hai (30).

Juniors (boys) U-17: 1-Syed Zuhair Raza (130); 2-Abdul Rehman (75); 3-Omer Shahid (55).

Juniors (girls) U-17: 1-Uzma Zakaria (30); 2-Rija Sanni (20); 3-Maheen Dada (15).

Boys U-15: 1-Abdul Rehman / Omer Shahid (75); 2-Syed Zuhair Raza (70); 3-Nameer Shamsi (65).

Boys U-13: 1-Nameer Shamsi (110); 2-Adil Kohari (90); 3-Shahbaz Khan (50).

Boys U-11: 1-Talha Zubair (115); 2-Khawaja Hamza (100); 3-Imran Mooraj (55).

Boys U-9: 1-Ali Mooraj (55).
