HYDERABAD, Dec 9: The 73rd round of anti-polio campaign, which aims to immunise 297,020 children below the age of five years, would be held across the province from Dec 11 to 13, EDO health Dr Mohammad Sharif Rathore said on Sunday.

Dr Rathore said at a news conference at the press club that the department had formed 618 mobile teams to administer drops to children from door to door and also set up 84 fixed centres and 37 transit points.

The campaign would be supervised by a district focal person, 27 zonal supervisors and 141 area in-charges besides the representatives of WHO and UNICEF and officials of the health department, he said.

He said that not a single case of polio had been reported since October 2004 from any part of the district, which had also received polio-free certificate from the WHO.

The credit for the achievement went to the health workers, especially lady health workers, doctors, paramedics and volunteers as well the district government, which extended full cooperation in the drive, he said.

He urged the parents to not only get their children below five years of age immunised against polio but also get them vaccinated against seven other diseases.
