PESHAWAR, Dec 3: Ninety development schemes in 13 major social sectors are under implementation at a total cost of about Rs3 billion in the Orakzai Agency and work on most of the schemes is going on as per schedule.
The target of utilising 70 per cent of the development funds has been achieved in general and it is expected that developmental targets set for the current financial year would be achieved in the agency by the end of the year.
NWFP Governor Lt-Gen (retd) Ali Mohammad Jan Aurakzai was informed about this at a review meeting at the Governor’s House here on Monday.
The political agent for Orakzai, Fakhre Alam, briefed the meeting about the pace of uplift projects. He said except for one or two projects in the communications sector, which had been hit by snags, work on all projects was progressing satisfactorily. He said only 14 of the projects were new ones.
The governor instructed that all possible steps be taken to recruit teaching staff for colleges to ensure their smooth functioning. He said the construction of two hostels for women teachers should be completed on a priority basis.
