KHYBER AGENCY, Dec 2: Members of the Bar Qamber Khel tribe in Khyber Agency have announced their support for the Awami National Party-backed candidate, Muhammad Saeed Afridi, contesting elections for NA-46.

According to a press release issued by the Awami National Party, the people of the area announced their support after an assurance by Mr Afridi that if elected he would try his best to end backwardness of the area.

Mr Afridi assured the tribesmen that he would work for the development of the area on a priority basis and pay special attention to provision of facilities in the sectors of health, irrigation, education, communication, etc.

The assurance was held out at a largely-attended jirga held here on Sunday.

ANP’s provincial vice-president Imran Afridi also attended the jirga.

The jirga discussed various issues relating to the upcoming elections and it was decided that the tribe would support Mr Afridi from the NA-46 constituency.—APP
