Nominations of PML-N leader rejected

KHANEWAL Dec 1: Returning officer additional district and sessions judge Rai Nazir Ahmad on Saturday rejected nomination papers of PML-N leader and former Punjab transport minister, Haji Irfan Ahmad Khan Daha, for NA-157 (KWL-II) for not receiving the verification of BA degree from the respective university.

Reports said the returning officer had sought verification of Mr Daha’s BA degree from the respective university on the objection filed by his rival party (Hiraj group) on Nov 29.

“The returning officer has rejected my nomination papers. I don’t know the reason whether the court has received verification of my BA degree or not,” said Irfan Daha while talking to this correspondent.

He said he had already sought withdrawal of his nominations but the court instead of accepting that application rejected the papers. “However the documents of my covering candidates, including Suhail Sikandar Khan Daha, have been accepted,” he said.
