Women’s hockey starts tomorrow

LAHORE, Nov 29: Some 20 teams will be taking part in the 23rd National Women’s Hockey Championship starting from Saturday.

The teams have been placed in four groups.

Group divisions:

A: Wapda, Sukkur, Quetta-C, Multan, Police.

B: Railways, Karachi-C, Army, Mirpurkhas, Rawalpindi.

C: Lahore-C, Gujranwala, Quetta City District, Bahawalpur, Sargodha.

D: Faisalabad, D.G. Khan, Islamabad, Hyderabad, Peshawar.

Six matches will be played on the first day as per the following schedule:

Wapda vs Quetta-C; Railways vs Rawalpindi; Lahore vs Gujranwala; Sargodha vs Quetta City District; Peshawar vs Hyderabad and Police vs Multan.

The semi-finals will be held on Dec 9 followed by the final on Dec 11.—Sports Reporter
