KASUR, Nov 27: A raiding team of the Punjab excise intelligence bureau, Lahore, on Tuesday arrested a woman smuggler from a village near Kot Radha Kishan and seized heroin and hashish from her possession.

Punjab excise director-general Raja Sikandar received information that a woman had brought fine quality `crystal’ heroin and hashish from Peshawar for selling it at Kot Radha Kishen.

A team, headed by excise officers Tanveerul Haq and Naeemur Rehman, raided the village and arrested Abida with more than 1kg contraband worth hundreds of thousands of rupees while her mother Jameela managed to escape.

A member of the raiding team said Abida and Jameela had close relations with some officers and political figures and set up a smuggling network. The accused used to roam around girl colleges and parks for selling drugs. Jameela is said to be involved in 16 drug cases.
