Lawyers boo Moonis Elahi

Published November 27, 2007

LAHORE, Nov 26: Supporters of Moonis Elahi and lawyers pelted each other with stones, chanted slogans and hurled abuses at Aiwan-i-Adl, say eyewitnesses. Moonis Elahi had come to the courts for submission of his nomination papers for PP-152.

“His supporters were chanting at the top of their voice that he was the next chief minister,” said an eyewitness. The lawyers started chanting ‘lota’ (a turncoat) when they saw Moonis.

“A lawyer threw a handful of dirt towards the former chief minister’s son when he was on his way out after submitting his papers,” said another eyewitness. After exchanging harsh words and stones with lawyers, the crowd left with Moonis, he said. —Reporter
