HYDERABAD, Nov 18: The Sindh Pre-Cast Parabolic Association has threatened to go to Sindh High Court for justice if the ban on use of parabolic in the lining of watercourses in Sindh was not lifted.

Leaders of the Association appealed to President Musharraf to take notice of the alleged corruption of concerned agency which had banned the use of parabolic.

Association’s President Engr Allah Warayo Khaskheli, Senior Vice President Nazimuddin Burdi and others told the news conference on Saturday that the programme of lining of watercourses in Sindh was announced by President of Pakistan at a cost of Rs23 billion.

The National Programme for Improvement of Watercourses (NPIW) and Sindh Onfarm Water Management were entrusted the task of lining 33,000 watercourses in three years of which only 5,000 could be lined in more than the stipulated time, they said.

“Lining watercourses with parabolic takes only 10 days while bricks may take up to six to eight months,” they said and alleged that to prolong the process of lining and earn commission, the NPIW had banned the use of parabolic.

The association’s office-bearers said although the NPIW and the Sindh Onfarm Water Management were both government projects while the former banned the use of parabolic but the latter was still using.
