BADIN, March 27: Scores of Nazims along with 40 male and female councillors belonging to the Azad Ittehad of various union councils of the district have decided to observe token hunger strike at the Shahnawaz Chowk, Badin, on Thursday against the district Nazim, Kamal Khan Chang, and the DCO, Mohsin Qureshi, who were allotting development schemes to their favourites.

Several meetings of union council Nazims were convened at their respective offices where it was decided to launch a protest campaign with effect from March 28 initially by observing token hunger strikes against what they called “the partisan attitude of the district Nazim and DCO Badin” regarding distribution of development schemes.

They alleged that the district Nazim and the DCO were awarding schemes to Awam Dost Nazims by ignoring others.

Meanwhile, the taluka Nazim, Badin, Dr Musrat Khwaja, also announced for observing token hunger strike against the DCO regarding his inefficiency in the disbursement of amounts to be spent on development schemes.

He said that he along with the other councillors would observe hunger strike in front of the taluka council on Thursday.

Water crisis: Drinking water crisis has become severe here. The crisis has been caused by the closure of the only feeder canal, Kazi Wah, and a lack of attention by the taluka Nazim towards the water problem.
