Oil, gas Discovery in Sindh

Published November 17, 2007

KARACHI, Nov 16: The Oil and Gas Development Company Ltd (OGDCL) on Friday announced a small oil and gas discovery in Sindh which will raise company’s oil output by 229 bpd and gas by 10.46 mmcf a day.

“This is a small sized discovery and will marginally push OGDCL’s earnings by 0.10 rupees per share,” said Faraz Farooq, an analyst at the First Capital Equities Ltd.

“Production is likely to start in about eight to nine months.”

The discovery was made at Moolan Well No. 1 in Hyderabad in which OGDCL has a 100 per cent stake.

The OGDCL reported flat earnings for the first quarter of 2007-08 as higher exploration costs offset the impact of increased output. The company’s oil production totalled 48,374 bpd and 1,041 mmcf a day in October.—Reuters
