MANSEHRA, Nov 15: A constable was killed in an encounter with car-lifters in Bassar area of the Narain valley on Thursday.

Police sources said that some car-lifters were intercepted at the Narain police checkpost but they did not stop and tried to escape from the place.

When police followed them, they opened fire on the police vehicle, killing constable Mohammad Pervez on the spot.

It is learnt that the car-lifters after hijacking vehicles from Punjab and the Hazara division used the Mansehra-Narain and Jalkhad (MNJ) road to transport vehicles to Challas and other parts of the Northern Areas.
