LAHORE, Nov 14: The Punjab Food Department on Wednesday sealed another nine mills in three districts of the province for inter-mill trade and selling flour at higher price, bringing the total to 26 during the last four days.

According to the officials, the department has also established a monitoring post at Burhan Exit (M-1) to check the intra-provincial movement of flour. They said millers, in order to avoid checking on GT Road had shifted flour movement to the motorway, which would be monitored now.

The department, they said, had redirected wheat quota of these 26 mills, which is around 600 tons, to other mills that were grinding all the wheat.

The mill which were closed down included Rawat Flour Mills, New Habib Flour Mills, Amir Ali Flour Mills, Chenab Flour Mills, al-Wahab Flour Mills, Lasani Flour Mills and Hasmic Flour Mills in Rawalpindi, Tariq Flour Mills and Pai Khel Mills in Multan and Mianwali districts.

They said wheat quota of four millers from Lahore was being restored after they submitted an undertaking. However, the millers were being strictly monitored.
