LAKKI MARWAT, Nov 13: Members of the Citizen Community Boards (CCBs) have set up a body ‘The All Deferred CCBs Coordination Council District Lakki Marwat’ in order to press the district government for judicious distribution of funds.

The decision to set up the body was taken in a meeting held on Tuesday at Ayub Market Serai Naurang with Abdul Qayyum in the chair. Union Council Tajori Nazim Maulana Asghar Ali, Union Council Naurang Nazim Nekza Ali Shah and office bearers of the citizen community boards attended the meeting.

Mr Shah was elected chief organiser, Buzher Jamher chairman, Abdul Qayyum secretary-general and Mohammad Tahir Khan information secretary on the occasion.

The participants discussed matters pertaining to distribution of funds and selection of boards to carry out uplift works at the grassroots level. They chalked out a strategy to launch a protest against the prevailing procedure of choosing CCBs backed by former MPs and bigwigs of the district and tehsil government as well as the alleged unjust distribution of funds.

Maulana Ashgar Ali alleged that District Nazim Humayun Saifullah Khan deprived a number of union council nazims of their due share from district funds allocated for citizen community boards. “The district nazim had violated the CCB budget rules and disbursed funds in an unjust way,” he said.

He said the boards set up in Tehsil Serai Naurang and Sub Tehsil Tajori had been ignored while only favourite CCBs were provided funds for development works.

The members urged the district government to sanction funds for their boards else, they warned, the doors of courts would be knocked.
