Alam steers team to victory

LAHORE, Nov 11: Two goals in the last chukker by Shah Qubilai Alam helped Lahore Chatkhara win the Bank Al falah Polo Cup beating Good Will Foods 5 1/2-4 in the final on Sunday.

The losers led the first chukker 2- 1 1/2 as Samir Malik and Tahir Aslam Awan struck a goal each for them.

The winners, who had half-goal handicap, earned sole goal through Faisal Khan. Qubilai, who in all scored four, put his team ahead 3 1/2-3 by scoring one each in the second and third chukker. Samir scored his second for the losers in the third chukker.

But in a thrilling fourth chukker, first Atif Tiwana put Good Will ahead 4-3 1/2 before Qubilai banged home with back-to-back goal to seal the fate of the final.

Four-goal Taimur Mawaz Khan helped En Vogue claim third position defeating Hira Valves 7-3. Hashim Kamal Agha (2) and Shahzad Magoon (1) were the other scorers.

For the losers, Azam Hayat Noon (2) and Jawad Jamil Malik (1) reduced the margin.
