THATTA, Nov 11: The district and sessions judge of Thatta has summoned the DPO and SHO Thatta for denying registration of an FIR and protection to a man, Wazir Qureshi, academician-cum-guide of foreign scholar Ms Florence, who was beaten up by SP (Investigation) during her academic tour of Thatta recently.

Responding to a petition filed by advocate Mukhtiar Ali Jawahery, the counsel of petitioner Wazir Qureshi, district and sessions judge Thatta, Raja Lehrasib Ali Khan has summoned the DPO, Rustam Jatoi and Thatta SHO Syed Irfan Shah to personally appear before the court on Nov 12.

As per content of the petition, the petitioner voluntarily served as a guide to the dual-nationality holder of France and Turkey, Ms Florence alias Farida Boryek, who was on an academic visit to Makli to research on Sufism and Buddhism in the region.

Wazir stated that as he left no authority to tell the truth and the ugly treatment to the scholar.

He said suspicious people threatening of dire consequences and making his and his family’s life miserable.

Meanwhile, Wazir Qureshi also appealed to the intellectuals of Sindh in particular and Pakistan to take notice of the police atrocities with the foreign scholar.
