MOHALI, Nov 9: India and Pakistan have been fined for slow over rates in Thursday’s second One-day International won by the touring side by four wickets. The players were fined five percent of their match fee and the two captains double the amount after both teams were ruled to have fallen one over short in the allotted time, the International Cricket Council (ICC) said in a statement.

ICC match referee Roshan Mahanama imposed the fines after the teams were ruled to be one over short of their targets when time allowances were taken into consideration.

According to the ICC code of conduct regulations governing over-rate penalties, rival skippers Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Shoaib Malik were fined 10 percent of their match fees while the players each received five per cent fines.

Pakistan’s bowlers conceded 31 wides in a tally of 41 extras and their Indian counterparts sent down 16 wides.—Agencies
