Published November 10, 2007

HYDERABAD, Nov 9: Hyderabad DCO Aftab Ahmed Khatri has directed the managers of all marriage halls to strictly observe the timings of marriage ceremonies and make sure that aerial firing and fireworks in their halls and outside would not take place.

He said this while presiding over a meeting of managers of marriage halls at his office here on Thursday.

He said that smooth traffic flow on the roads should be ensured failing which action would be taken against them. He directed them to arrange private security with uniform and volunteers to get these orders enforced within their marriage halls. Besides, these conditions must be included in the terms and conditions of booking, to hold the hosting party responsible, he said.

The DCO made it clear that no one would be allowed to block the roads or streets by erecting tents for marriage. He directed the managers of halls that lights of their halls must be turned off at 12 midnight and said that in case of any difficulty or resistance they should contact police or district nazim secretariat immediately. He assured them of full administrative support.

The district government was receiving complaints of road blockage, aerial firing and fireworks in wedding ceremonies, causing inconvenience to others and even posing threat to human life, he added.
