BAHAWALPUR, Oct 31: Anjuman Talaba-i-Islam (ATI) activists at Islamia University staged a rally on Wednesday, demanding cases against their rivals.
The rally was taken out in two university buses from the Baghdadul Jadid campus to the district police officer’s (DPO) office to pressure him to register a case against engineering students for injuring their workers on Tuesday. As the DPO was not present in his office, the students went to the Abbasia campus of the university. After taking a round of the old campus, the rally returned to the Baghdad campus.
The two rival groups clashed which left seven students injured. Police have not taken any action against either group. Police sources said they were examining their plaints.
DECLAMATION: Muhammad Naeem, of FG Inter College in Bahawalpur, was adjudged the best speaker at the All-Pakistan English Declamation Contest.
Afsar Ikram, of FG Degree College in Quetta, and Amaar Ahmed of Sir Syed College in Rawalpindi, won second and third prizes.
In the Urdu declamation contest, the first position went to Waleed Khan of FG College in Chaklala, the second and third positions to Muhammad Illyas, of FG Inter College in Karachi, and Moeezur Rehman, of FG College Wah Cantt.
