ISLAMABAD, Oct 29: Defending champions Army and Navy won two gold medals each to share opening day’s honours in the 16th National shooting championship at the Pakistan Sports Complex on Monday.

Mohammad Siddique aggregated 690.5 points to win individuals’ gold medal for Army in the Prone Rifle event.

Mohammad Mushtaq, also of the Army, picked up silver with 686.7 points while Ayaz Tahir of Navy won bronze with 685 points.

Army clinched the other gold medal in Prone Rifle’s team event with 1756 points while Navy finished second with 1752 points. PAF won bronze with 1693 points.

In individual category of Standard Pistol, Irshad Ali of Navy won the gold medal with 551 points while Mohammad Buta of Army won silver and Mohammad Maqbool of Navy claimed bronze with 549 and 548 points respectively.

Navy gathered 1641 points for gold in Standard Pistol’s team category with silver going to Army (1636) and bronze to Punjab (1562).

Army ended up with slight edge over sailors as they had three silver medals against the latter’s one silver and two bronze medals.——APP
