ISLAMABAD, March 23: Former parliamentarians including MNAs and senators have refused to pay their arrears of parliament lodges and government hostels unless their pending salaries and other perks and privileges are paid by the government, a well informed sources told Dawn on Saturday.

The sources said the Capital Development Authority (CDA) had sent notices to former parliamentarians for the payment of their dues through district coordination officers.

“Though some of them have retired their dues, notices have also been sent to them,” the sources added.

Some of the parliamentarians who are stated to be defaulters of Rs200 and below have also been served notices.

Meanwhile, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has also sent letters to ex-parliamentarians for the payment of their dues.

The sources said some 31 out of 162 parliamentarians had paid their dues so far.

Meanwhile, Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has directed the CDA to immediately recover outstanding dues of parliament lodges and government hostels from former MNAs and senators.

The source said similar letters were also sent to the relevant deputy commissioners before the establishment of district governments but no action had been taken.

The source said the NAB also asked the CDA to collect complete details of their properties so that they could be confiscated in case of non-payment of dues, the source said.
