KOHAT, Oct 26: The Kohat district and sessions judge has withheld the orders in a case against Hangu district nazim Ghaniur Rehman for allegedly submitting a fake matriculation certificate, as the accused has sent an application to the Peshawar High Court, calling for a re-trial.

Mr Rehman, a former irrigation minister in the PPP provincial government, has approached the Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court Tariq Pervez, expressing dissatisfaction over the Kohat district and sessions judge, Akhundzada Shahjehan Khan.

The judge had completed hearing in the case filed by Mr Rehman’s opponent, Taj Maluk, in the district government polls.

The petitioner had challenged the authenticity of the matriculation certificate of Mr Rehman, calling for his disqualification so that he could be declared the district nazim in his place.

The judge investigated the case, asking the testing body concerned to verify the certificate of the accused. The board replied that no certificate had been issued in the name of Ghaniur Rehman son of Layalpur and fixed the next date of hearing for order against the nazim.

But the nazim filed an application in the Peshawar High Court, alleging that the judge who had heard his case was biased.
