Blast destroys barber shop

BUNER, Oct 22: An improvised explosive device (IED) destroyed a barber shop and damaged seven adjacent shops here in Kalabat late on Sunday night.

The miscreants targeted the shop owned by Muhammad Zaman after he failed to heed to the threats given to him a few days ago, asking him not to shave beards of customers.

Local people said the device went off with a big bang, causing panic in the entire area. The blast also damaged some nearby grocery stores.

Two music centres in the Swari market and one in the Pacha Kalay bazaar were blown up in the same manner with IEDs. A blast near the office of an NGO had also taken place recently.

After a series of blasts the owners of video and CDs centres have started winding up their business.

Most of the hair-dressing salons here in Pacha Bazaar have now been displaying banners carrying the message “no un-Islamic cuttings.” Some barbers have closed down their shops.
