Riaz replaced as TV umpire

Published October 21, 2007

LAHORE, Oct 20: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) replaced Riazuddin as the TV umpire with Nadeem Ghauri for the second One-day International between Pakistan and South Africa at the Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday.

When contacted, the PCB Director Cricket Operations Zakir Khan said the decision was taken as Riaz was facing an inquiry launched after a complaint received from Australian ‘A’ team’s manager Daryl Foster.

Zakir said the inquiry, which was being conducted by the PCB General Manager Shafiq Ahmed, was still in progress, therefore, he added, Riaz had been replaced. Zakir hoped Shafiq would hand over the outcome of the inquiry to him in the next couple of days, adding till that time Riaz would remain suspended.

Foster registered the complaint after Australia ‘A’ and Pakistan ‘A’ finished a four-day game in Faisalabad last month.
