MIRPURKHAS, Oct 17: Competition between sugar mills to get more cane has begun due to fast approaching crushing season.

Reports say crushing in Sindh is likely to begin from 1st of November as the crop has matured and ready for harvesting.

Managements, including Mirpurkhas, Digri, Al Abbas, Najma and Tharparkar were facing tough competition in acquiring more cane. Sources said they had chalked out plans by holding meetings to get more cane for crushing.

Vice President, Sindh Abadgar Board Mirpurkhas chapter, Haji Abdul Ghafoor Maher has demanded of the government and mill owners to increase cane price as rates of fertilizers, pesticide and other taxes had been increased.
