SIALKOT, Oct 12: Police on Friday claimed to have recovered three children kidnapped two days ago from a nearby village and arrested their abductor while travelling to the NWFP for selling them.

District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Ameen told reporters here on Friday that Akhtar Ali and his accomplices kidnapped Allah Rakha’s three sons, Shehroz, 10, Hyder Ali, 10, and Shehzaib, 8, on gunpoint while they were playing in front of their house in Nawan Pind locality in Sadar police precincts on Wednesday.

The DPO said during the preliminary interrogation, the kidnapper admitted to committing the crime owing to his poverty. The culprit said he wanted to mint some money by selling the abducted children to mafias in the NWFP.

The police arrested him while travelling to the NWFP and started investigation after registering a case. The DPO has announced cash prizes and commendation certificates for the police party, which solved the kidnapping case.
