QUETTA, Oct 10: A former tehsil nazim of Kohlu district was shot dead on the Brewery road here on Wednesday night.

According to police, two gunmen on a motorbike intercepted Wadera Sher Jan Marri’s land cruiser after Iftar and fired on him with automatic weapons.

Wadera Jan Marri suffered multiple bullet wounds and died on the spot. The assailant managed to flee the scene.

“Sher Jan was alone in the vehicle when he was ambushed by unknown armed men,” a senior police official said.

Police immediately rushed to the site and moved the dead body to the Bolan Medical College Complex.

“We are investigating the attack,” the official added.

Wadera Jan Marri was considered a staunch supporter of the ruling PML. He was the younger brother of Wadera Balakh Sher Pawadi Marri, a former provincial minister of Balochistan. Three month back, he married the daughter of former federal minister Mir Haji Khan Tareen.
