HYDERABAD, Oct 10: The Music Chair of the Institute of Sindhology will initially offer four-month professional and general certificate courses which will lead to a diploma course in music.

This was decided at a meeting of the chair held at the institute on Tuesday.

The meeting approved the outline of curriculum prepared and presented by Mr Ali with the suggestion for further improvement in it. The meeting also agreed to introduce music as optional subject in other disciplines from the academic session 2009.

The meeting decided that advertisement for admissions would soon be released in newspapers and the classes would be held in evening shift.

The meeting approved the names of faculty members for the chair which would be placed before the board of faculty and academic council for approval.

It also discussed possibilities of organising extra curricular activities for university students and decided that at the first instance, the faculty of arts would hold a meeting of its departments to discuss the feasibility of organizing such activities.

The meeting was presided over by Sindh University Vice-Chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui and attended by renowned scholar Dr N. A. Baloch, faculty of arts dean Dr Mohammad Qasim Bughio, Institute of Arts and Design director Dr M. A. Bhatti, Institute of Sindhology director Shoukat Shoro and music expert and assistant professor of Mass Communication Zulfiqar Ali.

ANIMAL HUSBANDRY: Director Animal Husbandry Sindh in the monthly report issued on Wednesday said during September, 1,32,110 animals were treated at different veterinary hospitals, dispensaries and the UC veterinary centres.
