KARACHI, March 20: An unbeaten 118 off 129 balls by former Test batsman Ijaz Ahmed Junior laid the foundation of Allied Bank Limited (ABL)’s 18-run win over KRL that ensured the bankers a place in the final round of the one-day championship at Pindi Cricket Stadium (Rawalpindi) Wednesday.

According to details available, Ijaz Jr hit 12 fours and one six to help ABL reach 232 for seven after being asked to bat first.

Test wicket-keeper Rashid Latif also played a crucial hand by making 41 at run-a-ball (four boundaries) in the seventh-wicket stand of 89 with Ijaz.

KRL, who needed a win in this last Pool ‘D’ tie to go through, were restricted to 234 for nine inspite of a century opening stand between Mohammad Ramzan (61 off 93 balls, five fours) and Saeed Anwar Jr (55 off 75 balls, five fours).

ABL’s bowling heroes were all-rounder Taimur Khan (four for 37) and off-spinner Arshad Khan (three for 44).
