SIALKOT, Oct 7: Four armed men donning police uniform looted Rs350,000 from the office of District Health Officer (DHO) in the vicinity of Allama Iqbal Memorial Hospital on Sunday night.

Sources said salaries of the employees of DHO’s office for the month of Sept were kept in lockers of the office and were to be distributed ahead of Eidul Fitr.

The robbers stormed the office at midnight, took the security guards on gunpoint and collected the money. The outlaws also thrashed the guards for resisting and fled with the booty after confining them in a room. The police have registered a case but are yet clueless.

It was second incident of its kind in the office of DHO during last two years. In 2006, some unidentified robbers had looted salaries of the employees in a similar incident, which remains untraced yet.

DHO Dr. Javaid Warraich told reporters that a departmental probe had been ordered in this connection.
