SHEIKHUPURA, Sept 28: Citizens have protested the Railway’s decision to suspend the operation of Rachna Express between Lahore and Faisalabad.

The train (suspended four months ago) used to leave Lahore at 6:30am and reach Faisalabad at 10:30am, facilitating passengers belonging to Sheikhupura, Safdarabad, Farooqabad, Sangla Hill and Chak Jhumra. Similarly, the train used to leave Faisalabad for Lahore at 11:30am.

Government employees, students and businessmen have demanded the PR authorities to immediately restart the operation of this train.

Talking to Dawn, citizens said they were unable to understand why the PR had suspended the train particularly when it was fetching profit and contributing a lot to the department’s revenue.

“On the one hand, Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid claims to provide maximum travel facilities to the masses, but on the other hand the department has suspended a profitable train,” said Farooq, a teacher.
