ISLAMABAD, Sept 28: Former chief justice Saeeduzzaman Siddiqui on Friday advised opposition parties to accept the verdict of the Supreme Court dismissing petitions relating to dual offices of the president.
“The opposition should accept it and there should be no politics of agitation,” he said.
Talking to a private television channel, Justice Siddiqui called for a display of the same spirit as witnessed on July 20 when the apex court had reinstated Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry. The government had accepted the verdict wholeheartedly back then and now it was the opposition’s turn to exhibit the same spirit, he added.
He said the courts should decide constitutional matters on merit and added that there was no space for sentiments of the people.—APP
