LAHORE, Sept 22: An All Pakistan Lawyers Conference here on Saturday asked all political parties to quit assemblies to block President Pervez Musharraf’s re-election bid.

The conference hosted by the Lahore High Court Bar Association was aimed at setting the agenda for lawyers’ movement. It was held in the wake of reports that certain lawyers and bars having affiliation with the PPP were against any anti-Musharraf drive.

The conference vowed to stand united in the movement for the restoration of democracy and decided to observe a black day and a complete boycott on Oct 6 if Musharraf’s re-election was held on that day. In case the Supreme Court decided against the candidature of Gen Musharraf, the lawyers would hold celebrations on Oct 6.
