NEW DELHI, Sept 20: The quest for India’s new cricket coach is expected to end on Sept 27 when the national board coach selection committee meets to decide the matter.

Secretary BCCI Niranjan Shah said the board received 15 to 20 applications which, he said, were being scrutinised.“We will send them to members of the coach selection committee which will meet around Sept 27.”

BCCI’s AGM is scheduled on Sept 28 and any decision taken by the coach selection committee, comprising former captains S Venkataraghavan, Sunil Gavaskar and Ravi Shastri, can be immediately vetted by the supreme body.

India have been without a full-time coach since the departure of Australian Greg Chappell in the wake of team’s dismal show at the 2007 World Cup in the West Indies earlier this year.—Agencies
