LANDI KOTAL, Sept 19: A large quantity of expired medicines was seized from a drug store of the Dogra Civil Hospital in Khyber Agency’s Bara area on Wednesday.

Sources said that it was the third time within a span of 20 days that authorities had seized expired and substandard medicines, but no action had been taken against the culprits.

They said the bulk of the medicines seized was not only expired but had been purchased from unknown manufacturing firms against the government rules that medicines can be only purchased from companies with an annual sale of Rs10 million.

Authorities had seized a large quantity of antibiotics, antidepressants, analgesics and other drugs from the agency headquarters hospital in Landi Kotal two month back.

Sources said that most of the drugs didn’t carry labels.
