HYDERABAD, Sept 19: Rama Pir fair in Tando Allahyar would be held on Oct 20-22 instead of Sept 20 in respect of the sacred month of Ramazan, said the organisers on Tuesday.

Members of Rama Pir Sheva Mandli and Mela Committee, Ratan Lal Lalwani, Kishore Kumar, Kaka Eshwar Das and Mohan Lal, said at a news conference at Tando Allahyar press club said that the fair was being held in Baddo (the sixth month of Hindu calendar) for the past 150 years but this year it had fallen in Ramazan therefore it had been put forward by a month.

They thanked District Nazim Dr. Rahila Magsi for constructing a community hall in the temple and appealed to Taluka Nazim Haji Khair Mohammad Khokhar to ensure that cleanliness was maintained during the fair.

They requested the Hesco not to impose loadsheding and urged the local administration not to allow gambling and sale of narcotics during the three-day fair.

Rama Pir commands a following of several million Dalits in Indian Rajasthan and Pakistan. He is buried in Rajasthan and a temple was erected in 1800 A.D in his honour in Tando Allahyar at the place where the revered saint used to sit.
