FAISALABAD, Sept 18: The City District Government Faisalabad (CDG-F) has signed an agreement with the National Logistic Cell (NLC) for the construction of 50 roads at a cost of Rs1 billion.

The agreement was signed by district nazim Rana Zahid Tauseef and Col Shafqat of NLC here on Tuesday at the circuit house. This will be the third phase of the Faisalabad roads construction project.

Talking to reporters, Mr Tauseef said Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi had approved construction of important city roads through the NLC for ensuring quality work. Funds for the third phase would be spent out of the Rs5 billion development package announced by President Gen Pervez Musharraf, he said.

The roads included in the third phase are: Jhang bazaar, Montgomery bazaar, Lasani pully, Sargodha road to Baba Qaim Saien graveyard (via Punj Pullian), remaining portion of circular road (Liaquat road), Tatha pul to Jattanwala chowk via Lasania restaurant, Sher Singwala road up to municipal limits, Gol bazaars of eight city bazaars, Tezab mills to Satiana road, Canal road (Sheikhupura road to Kashmir road), Regal road from Sarwala Rajbah to Kotwali road, Service road along Satiana road (LCW), Tenky wali road, Canal road link, D Ground to Pehari Ground road, Clock Tower roundabout, Karkhana bazaar, Katchery bazaar, Jail road (Amban wali pully) to Qaim Saien graveyard along Agriculture university, Sahil Hospital road, along Civil hospital from Mall road, Narwala road (Sheranwala chowk) to Parkwali link road, link road between Rippal plaza and Hashmat road, College road, Samanabad, Narwala road to General hospital via Nishaista chowk, Ghulam Muhammadabad, Raja Chowk to Piranwala chowk road, Ghulamabad, Kotwali road RCW (Telecom chowk to Babar cinema, Sir Syed road (Dijkot road to FDA flats) H-road Akbar Chowk (Gulistan colony), Korrian bridge (Samundri road) to Nawabanwala, Imranbargah to D Ground, Cherry Salad Bar road, DCO office to Jail road, Bilal road to Arts Council road, Bilal road to Iqbal Stadium road, Satiana road RCW (Wasa pump to Municipal limit, Gol chowk to Alhalal road, road from FDA flats to Chungi No.10, Ghulamabad, Sirwala Rajbah to Gulberg road (via Imambargah) Samanabad, Madni chowk to Nawabanwala, Tahir road (Sheikhupura road to Awan chowk), Kashmir road, Ghulamabad, Allied chowk to Jorrialwali mosque (Noorpur) via Dak Khana chowk, Link road (Hamdard University Canal road to Sheikhupura road) via Manawala, Mian Pind road/Muhammad Khan Dogar chowk to Jhumra road (Mansoorabad Data Park Gali No.12), main bazaar, Shoaib Bilal Market, and main bazaar Mansoorabad (Jhumra road to Punjani chowk).

The district nazim said construction work on 60km roads would be completed within 30 months under the technical supervision and designing of Nespak. Encroachments on these roads would be removed by the NLC and a close liaison would also be kept with PTCL, Wasa, SNGPL, Fesco and others.
