ATTOCK, Sept 18: Eleven people were injured in separate incidents in the district, police said here on Tuesday.
Six persons were injured in road accident when a Rawalpindi- bound coach hit a car near Kunda village on the Kohat-Pindi road, in the jurisdiction of the Basal police station.
Among the injured were four people from the car Mehar Khan, Mohammad Akram, Ghulam Farid and Sajid while two from the coach Safia Bibi and Abdul Latif. They were rushed to the local hospital. Police have registered a case against the coach driver.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Suleman reported to the Saddar police that he was busy in his agricultural field on Monday, when Fazal Khan along with his two sons allegedly attacked him with axes, as a result he sustained injuries.
Sarwar Jan, resident of Domail village, complained to Basal police station that she was reportedly injured by her brother Mumtaz Khan and his wife over a land dispute.
Similarly, Mohammad Ameen was allegedly injured by two persons Mohammad Bashir and Ibrar over a cattle grazing dispute. Such as, Safeer Ahmed, resident of Mirza village, was reportedly attacked and injured by one Asad.
While Mohammad Rafiq reported to the Jand police that he and other family members were sleeping at the house, when an unknown person shot injured his wife and fled away.
GANG BUSTED: Attock Khrud police arrested a two-member gang of inter-provincial arms smugglers and recovered huge quantity of illegal arms from their possession in an attempt on main GT Road.
District Police Officer (DPO) Tariq Hanif Joyia told the media that on the tip-off that huge quantity of arms were being smuggled from the Tribal area to downtown, a barrier was drawn near Mullah Mansoor toll plaza under the supervision of SHO Attock Khurd police station Inspector Raja Sajid Mehmood.
When a car was signalled to stop, the driver tried to sped away but was intercepted by the police. During search, the police seized 10,000 bullets, 18 Kalashinkoves, 65 pistols 30 bore, five mousers, one 12-bore repeater, a 9-mm rifle and 130 magazines from the vehicle and arrested accused Khan Agha and Riaz Ali, residents of Peshawar.
According to the police, the arm was being smuggled to Mansehra and could have used in any terrorist activity. Cases under the terrorist act and possession of illegal arms was registered against the accused and further investigation was underway.
Meanwhile the Attock Khrud police seized 10 kg hashish from the possession of Kamran resident of Charhat during the checking of a Rawalpindi-bound bus at the same place, he added.
OPEN MEETING: The DPO Attock while speaking at an open meeting at Sheenbagh village said that character certificates were being issued without any hurdle and if any applicant faced any problem in this regard, he or she could meet him at his office any time.
Among others, nazims, naib nazims and councillors of union councils Sheenbagh, Baryhar and Sallar were also present on the occasion.
The DPO said that about 1,500 police constables were being recruited to meet the shortage of police staff. He said SDPOs and SHOs had been directed to keep strict vigilant over the anti social elements during Ramzan.
