MUMBAI, Sept 13: India’s Sania Mirza could miss next week’s home WTA event in Kolkata due to a wrist injury, she said on Wednesday.Sania, 20, has not played since the US Open earlier this month, where she reached the third round of the singles and the quarter-finals of the doubles.

“I haven’t hit any balls since I’ve come back and it has been around five or six days,” the world number 27, said. “I’m going to get on the court in a couple of days and see how it feels. I’m hoping to play but I’m going to make a decision probably on Sunday or Monday, probably that morning because I’m going to wait till the last second to see how it heals.”

The Indian is hopeful of adding to the one WTA title she won in Hyderabad in 2005 after an impressive run in the US hardcourt circuit, reaching the Stanford Classic final in July.

France’s Wimbledon finalist Marion Bartoli is the top seed

for the Kolkata tournament.
