Woman, minor son killed on road

FAISALABAD, Sept 12: A woman and her minor son were killed in an accident on Wednesday near Khanuana. Reports said Zulfiqar Ali of Chak 77-GB along with his wife Sarwar Bibi and five-year-old son Usman was on way to Faisalabad by a motorbike. On Satiana Road, a speeding car hit the two-wheeler, killing Sarwar Bibi and Usman on the spot and injuring Zulfiqar. The car driver managed his escape.

Police is investigating.

CONSUMER COUNCIL: The Punjab Consumer Protection Council (PCPC) will launch an awareness campaign to educate consumers about their rights.

This was stated by PCPC director Nadeem Arshad here on Wednesday while presiding over a meeting of the council at the DCO office.

The meeting was attended by officers of different departments and PCPC members.

Mr Arshad said the DCOs had been given full powers to act against adulterators and it was the duty of council members as well to cooperate with the government.

He said manufacturers would also be included in the council soon.

MoU: The University of Faisalabad (TUF) has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) for academic cooperation.

Both the institutions will cooperate in research and development, faculty exchange programme, faculty and staff training and academic programmes in various disciplines, particularly in law and Shariah, management studies and electronic engineering.

The universities will conduct periodic seminars, workshops, conferences and other training programmes for mutual benefit.

IIUI president Dr Anwar Husain Siddique and TUF rector Dr Abdul Majeed signed the MoU.
