Referendum for Wapda bargaining agent

LAHORE, Sept 12: Pakistan Wapda Hydro-Electric Central Labour Union (PWHECLU) on Wednesday retained its CBA status by winning the fourth countrywide referendum for collective bargaining agent for Wapda held by the National Industrial Relations Commission.

Of 136,000 registered workers, 111,800 exercised their right to vote at 309 polling stations set up in all the four provinces and the federal capital.

The Pakistan Wapda Hydro-Electric Central Labour Union bagged 74,553 votes, Wapda Employees Paigham Union 37,144 and the newly-formed Akhuwat Union only 2,445 votes.

The Hydro-Electric Central Labour Union thus defeated its rival unions by a margin of 37,144 votes.
