Hyderabad, Sept 10: The city residents held demonstrations and staged sit-ins at various points against water shortage and load shedding, on Monday.People showed resentment against the Water and Sewerage Agency (WASA) and Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco) against water shortage and load shedding for more than two weeks.

The residents in Tando Wali Mohammad and Silawat Para demonstrated at the Prince Ali Road and blocked vehicular traffic for sometime. A large number of women and children burnt tyres and threw stones at the passing vehicles. People chanted slogans against Hesco and Wasa.

Protesters complained of living a difficult life as there was no water in their area since last 15 days with power going out for many hours during the day and night. They said there was no respite from the situation despite making complaints to related departments.

Later, officers from the Market Police Station persuaded them to disperse and reopen the road for vehicular traffic.

The two menaces have made life miserable for the residents of Qasimabad, Latifabad and other areas of the city also.—PPI
