HYDERABAD (India), Sept 9: At least 10 people were feared killed and many more injured when a flyover collapsed in southern India, the Press Trust of India reported.

Cranes and ambulances were rushed to the spot in a busy area of Hyderabad city to rescue people, police commissioner Balwinder Singh said.

“It was raining heavily. The bridge came down because of the rain. There were several cars under it,” an eyewitness told CNN-IBN news network.

At least eight cars were trapped under the debris, an AFP correspondent said.

The injured were taken to hospital. Buildings and flyovers often collapse in India because of heavy rains or poor construction material.—AFP
