KARACHI, Sept 7: Three-goal Rana Jawaid guided Wapda to a pulverising 10-1 victory over the hapless KESC in the All-Pakistan Shaheed-i-Millat Liaquat Ali Khan hockey tournament at Hockey Club of Pakistan on Friday.

It was virtually a practice session for Wapda as an unimpressive KESC trailed 6-0 at halftime with Wapda in full control over the game.

Zakirullah opened the onslaught with a fifth-minute strike followed by a Jawaid goal in the 11th minute. Asif Michael, who scored twice, got his first in the 13th minute, while Jawaid slotted home for his third four minutes later.

Asif was again in action in the 23rd minute, while Mohammad Arif made it 6-0 four minutes before going for the break.

All KESC could do was to score the consolation goal through Irfan Ali in the 41st minute as Wapda once again established their domination when they netted their seventh through Moazzam Ali.

Without letting KESC to recover from the shocks, Wapda moved ahead as Jawaid grabbed his third the next minute, while Obaidur Rahman scored in the 62nd minute and Mohammad Adeel in the 66th minute to complete the tally.

The match between Steel Mills and Pakistan Navy, expected to be good contest, ended in a goalless draw.

PIA scored an unimpressive 3-0 win over minnows Karachi.

The national carriers started with a Mohammad Mukhtar goal in the 13th minute, while Inamur Rahman doubled the lead a minute into the second session.

Zaheer Ahmad converted a 41st-minute penalty stroke for the third.

Adil Hussain struck twice in Habib Bank’s (HBL) huge 6-0 victory over Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF).

Starting with a Rizwan Khan strike in the 24th minute, the bankers got their second through Rana Zubair Riaz in the 44th minute. Adil banged home his first four minutes later and Aijaz Rasool made it 4-0 in the 50th minute.

Azlan Khan converted a 56th-minute penalty corner and Adil found the target for his double three minutes before fulltime.
