SHIKARPUR, Sept 5: The former defence minister and Pakistan People’s Party leader Aftab Shaban Mirani has denied reports that he had been nominated as caretaker prime minister in case the PPP and government deal materialised.

This was told by the party leader, Agha Arsalan Khan Pathan, at a press conference here on Wednesday where he conveyed the statement of Mr Mirani.

Mr Mirani, in his statement, contradicted the news published in a section of press that he had been nominated to become prime minister.

He said that such information was incorrect and misleading.

Mr Mirani said that he would not contest for national assembly seat from Shikarpur in the next general election.

PPP central leader Agha Arsalan Khan Pathan, district president Naeem Akbar Qazi, district general secretary Naseer Ahmed Lodhi, press secretary Mohammad Paryal Mari and Syed Gulab Shah were also present on the occasion.
