ISLAMABAD, Sept 3: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has observed that the improvement in the judicial system of the Northern Areas was a very delicate and sensitive matter and it should be dealt with constitutionally.

“Supreme Court will act only within the parameters provided by law and the constitution”, he said while talking to delegates of various bars of Northern Areas.

He appreciated the role of the Northern Areas’ bars in the lawyers’ movement and advised them to keep the spirit high and use it for providing better services to the people.

According to a press release, the Chief Justice noted that public had more confidence in the courts and lawyers and said “it is now our duty to serve them by providing quick services”.

He said the people had great expectation from the bench and the bar hence the two should join hands and maintain the momentum of the struggle to meet the expectations of the people of Pakistan.

The delegation briefed the Chief Justice of Pakistan on the judicial system of the Northern areas and emphasized upon the need for independent and strengthened judiciary in Northern areas.
