KHAIRPUR, Sept 3: A man was killed and 12 others suffered injuries when a Mazda pickup taking back devotees from the shrine of Qalandar Lal Shahbaz to the Punjab overturned on Monday near Bago Bhutto village of Daharki taluka.

Syed Faryad Hussain Shah died on the spot while 12 others identified as Hamz Ali, Abdul Sattar, Farhan, Ghulam Ali, Asghar, Hyder, Shabbir, Illahi Bux, Ghulam Nabi, Shahzad, Zubair and Shahnawaz were removed to Sadiqabad and Rahimyar Khan hospitals.

In another accident, eight persons were seriously injured in a collision between a truck and a passenger bus. The Bannu-bound bus coming from Karachi collided with a truck near Gadeji on the National Highway.

The injured were identified as Munir Ahmed, Mohammad Murad, Arshad, Sohrab, Miandad, Fazal Akbar, Aftab and Faisal. The injured were admitted to the Ranipur Rural Health Centre.

KIDNAPPED: Four milkmen kidnapped late on Sunday night were released after an encounter.

Reports said that Abdul Wahab Phulpoto, Shoukat Phulpoto, Mohammad Akram Phulpoto and Nizamuddin Phulpoto were snatched when they were returning home to Qutbuddin Phulpoto after selling milk on Sunday night at Faiz Wah and Garhi Mori.

Police contingents from Priyaloi, Babarloi and other stations accompanied by relatives of kidnapped villagers surrounded the area. An exchange of fire took place between kidnappers and police in the jurisdiction of Faiz Mohammad Bindo police station and all the kidnapped persons were recovered, however the kidnappers managed to escape.
