CHARSADDA, Aug 31: Five people, including three policemen, were injured when an improvised explosive device went off near a CD shop at the Alam Market in Shabqadar tehsil on Friday.

Witnesses said that people were going for Friday prayers when they spotted the device near the CD shop.

They immediately informed the local police.

When police reached the spot and started clearing the place, the device went off, injuring three policemen identified as ASI Sehath Bacha, ASI Gulsheed Khan and constable Qaisar Khan.

The CD shop was damaged partially in the explosion. Charsadda district police officer Feroze Shah when contacted confirmed the incident and said that the local people had informed police after which police reached the spot. Following the blast, he added, police had initiated the investigation but so far no one had been arrested.

Local people here termed the blast part of series of explosions during which CD and video shops have been targeted through out the province.
